A YEARNING HEART

I have smelled the scent of the earth when it rains
I have danced in the rain as my tears were washed away
I have watched the sunset as it kissed the mountains
Basked under a full moon in a starry sky
I have heard your name in the whisper of the wind
In a distant echo when the trees sway

I have called out your name in my sleep
Reached for you in my dreams, yearning to hold you
I have seen your face in the street,
Heard your voice in the blaring of traffic
I have written a poem of you, sang you a love song in my heart
I have acted a movie of us in my mind
I have called your machine at home just to hear your voice
I have cried in despair, I have hurt so much.

I have missed you like the desert misses rain
I have prayed to God for you and us
I have defied destiny, wagged a war against fate to be with you
I have gone back in time, to a place in time
I have missed you with a pain so deep
I have loved you, in and out, in and out of time
